Who we are

We are Westerkade Maternity Care, the only maternity care agency in the Utrecht region set up by a midwifery practice. By combining midwifery care and maternity care, we provide you with a single team of care providers throughout the entire period from pregnancy to the postnatal period. Our maternity care workers deliver high-quality care thanks to their thorough training and experience, as well as their close collaboration with the midwives. Because we share the same vision as midwives and maternity nurses, there is no confusion or conflicting advice during the postnatal period. This brings peace of mind and confidence.

Our maternity nurses work in the South Utrecht region and usually travel by bike, which means we can easily reach everyone in the city.

We prefer to have a single maternity care worker at your home. However, we often choose to rotate staff members. This is due to staffing and logistical reasons, or sometimes simply because it’s nice and beneficial to draw on the expertise of another maternity care worker. As we have a small team and work closely together, having different faces can actually complement each other. Everyone has their own expertise and strengths, which we want all our families to benefit from. So, when planning, we look for the best match across the entire postnatal period!

On this website, under ‘Preparation’, you can read about the tasks our maternity carers carry out during their work. Our vision, in any case, is to provide high-quality care with a focus on the family. Our aim with every family is to work towards the moment when you can begin your journey into parenthood with confidence and a manageable daily routine.
